Baby Signs
Great class and instructor!!!
Deena Casey (Ashburn)
Baby Signs by Dana
We love the Baby Signs by Dana class. My son and I took classes when he was 6 months and then 9 months. It is fantastic! As a toddler he is struggling to communicate his wants/needs, but Baby Signs helps so much! He can tell me when he is hungry, tired, hurt, or if he really likes the alligator in a book! Great bonding experience for parent and child.
Miriam (Sterling, VA)
Clay Cafe Chantilly
We had a wonderful birthday party at Clay Cafe Chantilly last week - great selection of pottery, reasonably priced and the staff was very helpful. Kids had a great time! Definately would recommend it!
ArtsyMom (South Riding)
Franklin Park Pool
I have been to the pool at Franklin Park in Purcellville and was very impressed with the pool geared towards children. It was wonderful and my childen had a ball. My son is 2 1/2 and I also have a 5 month old. They have pools from 1/2 foot to 5 feet for the adults. They have slides and turtles to play on. This is well worth a trip for your kids to have an all day of fun!!! But please, please DO NOT forget the sunscreen.
Penny (Bluemont)
Hamilton Park
I think the park in Hamilton is a nce part to take the kids too. They have about 5 different play areas. The parents can set close by to keep an eye on everyone. Great place for a picnic. I also love the fact they have a play for kids that are in a wheel chair so they can enjoy in the fun too. They have a hug play equipment with ramps and also a swing equipt for them too. This is a very friendly and great place to take the kids.
Penny (Bluemont)
Ida Lee Recreation Center
I LOVE Ida Lee Recreation Center. It's our second home! Our kids have done all kinds of classes there-swimming, gymnastics, ballet, exploratory sports, and we all have a gym membership there. Their child care room is very inexpensive as well and the ladies are very kind and caring. It is much cleaner than other centers we have been to.
Krista (Leesburg)
Let's Dish
Wonderful new menus and walk in service on Wednesdays. The food tasted great when I cooked it at home. Reasonably priced. Would definately recommend it!
ArtsyMom (South Riding)
Let's Dish has been great for my family. I've dished on my own and raided their freezer on my way home from work as well. The meals are very tasty and hubby really enjoys them. Their new Reward Points make it even better to get dollars off of future sessions. Also staff in Ashburn is very helpful/friendly.
tyjeff (Ashburn)
Sport Bounce of Loudoun
My kids and I loved Sportbounce of Ashburn. After an hour of bouncing on their moonbounces, my kids were already asking to return. What I loved is that my kids were getting in some exercise without even knowing it. The place was very clean. We will be making Sportbounce one of our regular places to visit. Glad to have a place like this so close.

Bean Tree Learning
I unreservedly recommend BeanTree Learning to any parent looking for daycare/preschool/private kindergarten options in Ashburn and Chantilly (new center opening there sometime this year). Our two daughters have been at BeanTree for almost two years, and have thrived both socially and developmentally. The staff is attentive, professional, and focused on providing the best possible environment for the children. A typical day includes lessons in Spanish, computer use, music, and art, plus additional classes in ballet and martial arts are available. It's more expensive than the average day care center, but it also proves the adage "you get what you pay for."
Virginia (Ashburn, VA)
BeanTree Learning - What a wonderful school/daycare! My son has been going for 2 years and I have never had a complaint. They go beyond the call of duty, teaching spanish, computers, art, music, hiring teachers with degrees, providing the love and care any parent would wish for in a school/daycare .... I would not want to send my children anywhere else.
Randi (Ashburn, VA)
Giti's Daycare (Sterling VA)
Licensed home Daycare in Sterling Virginia located near Park View High School. Family based daycare with all the perks of a center. Closed only on government holidays (some home daycare providers like to take vacation-what are you suppose to do with your kids on THEIR day off????). Open 6:30-6:00pm, no late fee for late pickup! Loving home atmosphere, run by a 50 something grandmother with two mature adult helpers, both have been there more than a year. She takes kids 0-5. She's very flexible, great with kids, provides fun activities for the kids during the day. I've had my kids there since 2003 and have always been happy. (703-444-0312)

Little Blessings Preschool
Since preschool registration is around the corner, I want to recommend Little Blessings in Leesburg, VA to all parents who are looking for a terrific school. My two daughters have attended Little Blessings and have loved it! The environment is a safe, loving one, yet at the same time provides a learning environment that emphasizes social and academic growth. The classes are well structured and include music and science classes, while at the same time foster creativity and early spiritual growth in the children. Little Blessings has programs for three and four year olds, and a terrific pre-K program. My oldest daughter was incredibly well prepared for kindergarten not just from an academic perspective, but emotionally and socially. My youngest daughter is currently enrolled in the afternoon program and wishes she could go to school every day, she loves it that much! I know not every child is the same and they all have different needs and my experience has been that the teachers at Little Blessings are very willing to work with parents to make sure it's the best learning environment for each child. Many people have been asking me about preschools and I whole heartedly recommend Little Blessings. The website has all the information you need to see if the right school for your child.

Loudoun County Christian Academy
I am very impressed with Loudoun County Christian Academy located in Hillsboro, VA (right outside Leesburg, near Purcellville). My son attends this daycare; which he totally loves!! They offer daycare, toddler care, preschool, and before and after care. They offer different activities, games, crafts, etc daily. They have a great educational program!! My son has a learning level above where he should be because of their excellence!! And besides all that they are Christian based which was very important to us in deciding a child-care place. Two thumbs way up!!!
Teresa (Leesburg)

Mommy Boot Camp
I just wanted to say that if you are a mom looking to get in shape you NEED to try out Mommy Boot Camp! It is unlike any other stroller class around and the instructors are excellent! Prices are good too. It is the only way I lost my baby weight and I met some great moms as well.
Jennifer (Ashburn)
Mommy Bootcamp
I LOVE Mommy Bootcamp! It is an awesome workout and tons of fun for me and my son. I've met so many mom's through this class that have become great friends. My son really enjoys it, it's like a play date for him and a workout for me.

Hospitals
Loudoun Hospital Birthing Inn
I would highly recommend the Birthing Inn at Loudoun Hospital Center. I have delivered the last three of my four children there, and each delivery was a wonderful experience, thanks to the caring and friendly nursing staff. They are very helpful and make each patient feel as if they are the most important patient in the unit. My last delivery was exceptionally difficult and scary and the nurses were so encouraging and sweet to me. They are also trained extensively in helping with breast feeding issues and are more than willing to help with any problems that may arrise during your stay. I can't say enough wonderful things about the Birthing Inn!
Liz (Ashburn, VA)
I just wanted to say how impressed I was with Loudoun Hospital (where my daughter was born.) Everything from labor and delivery to post-partum, to the nursery, and all the nurses, were fantastic. I almost didn't want to leave the hospital! (And that's saying alot because I am a nurse and don't really enjoy being a patient.)
Katie (South Riding, VA)
Kid-Friendly Restaurants
Giovanni's
Kid Friendly Restaurants. I really like the casual atmosphere and friendly staff at Giovanni's. This family-owned restaurant is accommodating to large groups of kids--they even provide some pizza dough to keep the kids occupied while your order is processed. Also, I love that you can order a single slice of pizza, not too many places have that any more.
Tina (Leesburg)
Red Robin
This is a great place to take kids to eat. They have great atmosphere for the young ones plus they get a ballon and the food and great. I highly recommend this restaurants for the kids.
Penny (Bluemont)
Sal's Pizza
I LOVE SAL'S PIZZA!! Sal is always there, and my preschoolers love him. They give us dough and sometimes special deserts! We've made a family tradition out of it. Visit Sal's, it's a great pizzaria, not just a pizza chain!
Holly (Sterling)
San Vito Ristorante Italiano
Our family loves San Vito's Italian Restaurant. They have four locations (We go to the one in Ashburn). It is a family friendly restaurant. They have great food for adults and children (kids also eat free on Tuesdays). They are starting a new wine program-which should be coming shortly!! They also cater (whether in is a small business lunch or a huge party). We used them to cater my sister-in-law dinner party. They did a fabulous job!! Two thumbs way up!!!
Teresa (Leesburg)
I recommend San Vito's Italian Restaurant for families. It's located in the Broadlands Center. It's a family restaurant with kids eating free on Tuesdays. They provide pizza dough for the children to play with while you wait for your meal. It is also entertaining to watch the chef making pizzas and putting them into the wood-burning pizza oven. The food is really tasty and they are change their specials often to reflect the season and what's available.

Lactation Consultants
INOVA Loudoun Birthing Hospital Lactation Department
The ladies at the Lactation dept at Inova Loudoun fit me for bras when no one else had been able to !! They also made my breastfeeding experience a positive one when my daughter was diagnosed with a tongue deformity that they actually had heard of !! They helped us when even the doctor's were skeptical, can't say enough about their professionalism and knowledge !! I am still breastfeeding 5 months later, and am forever grateful to Tracy Cross and Helen Leon.......they are the best lactation consultants around !!
Kelly (Purcellville)
Maureen Carey-Back
Maureen Carey-Back at Loudoun Pharmacy is an awesome lactation consultant! She helped me through thrush and plugged milk ducts and she helped me get organized on a pumping schedule so I could go back to work. And the best thing: She makes house calls! Miriam (Sterling, VA) I used Maureen Carey-Back, IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) when I was having trouble breastfeeding my newborn son. She helped us with that hurdle; as well as recommended the pump that saved our hopes on breastfeeding our little guy. (Her lactation consultations include:Prenatal Breast Assessments, Breast Reduction, Breast Augmentation, Nipple and Breast Pain, Milk Supply, Returning to Work, Pumping and Storing, Low Birth Weight, Jaundice, Solids and Breastfeeding, Multiple Babies, Toddler/Tandem, Nursing, and Weaning.)

Bonnie Horeseman Photography
Bonnie Horeseman of Bonnie Horeseman Photography is simply the best thing since sliced bread. We have now had our daughter's 4 mos. 8 mos. and soon her 2 year. pictures with Bonnie. She is so good and has two little ones of her own so she understands what it takes to get great pictures when kids have a plan of thier own! She is fantastic to work with and you will see from her website, she is incredibly talented. Thus far we have had 4 families who saw our pictures sign up for sessions with her and none have been disappointed. (I was even able to stop and breastfeed mid-session when my daughter was 4 mos. old)
Sarah (Ashburn)
Ingrid Kaslik Photography
Ingrid Kaslik did a BEAUTIFUL session with my newborn. She is a mom herself and works very well with babies (and other children, too). She is new to the area and does all types of photography. You can see samples of her work on her website: http://www.ingridkaslik.com/

The Photo Syndicate
I can't say enough good things about The Photo Syndicate in Reston,
VA! Damon Moore is not only a photographer but an artist. His work
is absolutely breathtaking! Some of the photos he took of my newborn
have brought tears to my eyes. Damon is extremely patient with babies
and children. He has three of his own so he really knows how to work
with kids. One of my favorite photos is of my son having a meltdown
during our photo shoot. Damon used the meltdown as a great photo
opportunity.
Here is my recommendation to all pregnant ladies. Get maternity
photos done! It's a magical experience! I am so thrilled that I had
the opportunity to capture my pregnant belly in professional
portraits. The Photo Syndicate studio provides a professional and
private setting for someone wanting to capture the natural beauty of
the pregnant body. Oh and here is the real perk. Damon's wife,
Jeanette is an extremely talented hair and makeup artist. You can
arrive at the studio early and have your hair and makeup done right before
your session. It's a real treat!
Here is the bottom line: You can go to your local photo shop at the
mall for photos or you can go to The Photo Syndicate for true works of
art!
Please visit http://www.thephotosyndicate.com/ to view his amazing portfolio of babies, children, families, maternity portraits and more. Click on the tab folios and view portraits for children, babies and families and maternity for maternity photos.

Food allergies affect approximately 12 million Americans, more than 3 million of whom are children(source FAAN). FAAN is a fantastic resource. I have found this organization to be extremely helpful in dealing with food allergies

Freecycle Loudoun
If you need a highchair, etc. but don't want to pay a lot of money for something that your child will outgrow in a few months, check out Freecycle! Taken from the freecycle.org website: "The Freecycle Network is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns." I've been a member of my own local freecycle for a few years now, and we've received an astounding number of wonderful items, including clothes, furniture, baby items, etc.
Jennifer (Sterling)
Freecycle is great, but you get a lot of emails. Get a seperate email account just for freecycle and use the digest format to avoid getting large quantities of emails. Michelle (Middleburg, VA) I also am a Freecycle Loudoun member. I have gotten some great things for FREE. It also gives me a chance to give back to other with stuff that I no longer need. The only not so good thing is that I receive a lot of mail (and I get the daily one, but I still get several e-mail a day). But as you can see I still think it is worth it!!!

Physicians/Dentists
Ashburn Children's Dentistry
The absolute BEST pediatric dentist in the area is Lynda Dean-Duru at Ashburn Children's Dentistry. I have been taking my kids to her for the last 11 years. I also used to work for her as one of her dental assistants, and can tell you that not only is she very good at what she does, but she sincerely cares about each child that she treats. I wouldn't think of taking my children to anyone else!
Liz (Ashburn)
Ashburn Pediatrics
I would like to recommend Ashburn Pediatrics! It took me a little while to find a Pediatrician I loved but this is the place. All the doctors are friendly and nice and they actually help support breastfeeding, something most don't! We tend to see Dr. Beloy but we've seen most of the other doctors and they've all been great!
Bronwyn (Potomac Falls)
Capital Area Pediatrics
I recommend Dr Lisa at Capital Area Pediatrics - Ryan Park. She is a wonderful, caring doctor.
Stephanie (Ashburn)
Capital Area Pediatrics in Herndon The whole practice is fantastic. We have seen a couple of the doctors and like them both. The staff is great as well, and their office hours are awesome! We see Dr. Ferrer now and think she is the best. She is very attentive, spends a lot of time with us checking out the baby and asking us questions.
Erin (Sterling)
Dr. Carolyn Walsh
I want to highly recommend internist Dr. Carolyn Walsh, located in Lansdowne. I was sick for 1 1/2 years and even after going to specialist, she figured it out. She has top notch training and is extremely personanable. Easy to get same day appts.
Alexa (Ashburn)
Dr. Paul Tudder
I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Paul Tudder, OB/GYN. I have been going to him for over 9 yrs. and he has delivered my 2 children. He is a very experienced and knowledgeable doctor. He has 2 offices: Leesburg & Reston. He is very caring, gentle and kind. I know a lot of other people who go to him and they have nothing but good reports about him.
Marian (Sterling)
I would like to second the recomendation of Dr. Paul Tudder, he and his staff are wonderful, helpful and knowledgable. I have only been in the area for 2 years and moved during my first pregnancy. He was the best doctor I found. He is kind, caring, and listens. I am now on my second pregnancy and wouldn't go to anyone else! Not only is he a great doctor but he is so good when my 14 month old comes to the appointments and gets fussy, I am in and out and never feel rushed.
Sara (Ashburn)
Dr. Paula Fergusson
I would like to recommend Dr. Paula Fergusson at Kids First Pediatrics in Sterling, VA. No long lines in the waiting room, awesome nursing staff, and supportive of breastfeeding moms! We love her!
Miriam (Sterling)
Leesburg-Sterling Family Practice
Leesburg Sterling Family Practice is a great office to take your children (and adults)to! My new Son and I are patients of their awesome practice!! They have many doctors and staff to choose the right doctor for you. I was able to interview some doctors before I chose the right one for us. The nurses and doctors are so friendly, They take their time and are willing to bend over backwards for their patients. I am always able to get a same or next day appointment. They also have Saturday hours (with or without an appointment needed). They also have many offices to chose from which is a huge convenience for us. And you do not need to stick to the same office, but still can have that same doctor you like! A good practice is hard to find; I am in the nursing field and know!!
Teresa (Leesburg)
Little Pearls Dentistry
Little Pearls Dentistry – Talk about a great place to take your kids! I was scared to death to take my 3-year old to the dentist because his last visit at another dentist was a nightmare. Dr. Mike at Little Pearls really knows how to work with children. His office is designed for children with a fish tank, toys, movies, games, prizes, etc. etc. And his staff …. awesome! He is located in Lansdowne, right across the street from the hospital.
Randi (Ashburn)
Loudoun Community Midwives
I would like to recommend Loudoun Community Midwives. They are all ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!! Lucia (Dulles, VA) I would like to 2nd the recommendation of Loudoun Community Midwives. They gave me the birth I wanted and the care I needed. Paula delivered my little one, but all the women there are AMAZING! Midwives are completely underrated in the United States!
Bronwyn (Potomac Falls)
Loudoun Community Midwives is the best! Everyone there is amazing and great to all of their patients. They make you feel at home and i highly recommend them.
Lindsey (Lovettsville)
I would like to also highly recommend Loudoun Community Midwives. Paula was incredible with supporting my wishes for a drug-free and low-intervention birth. She was so incredibly attentive right after the birth, and also the next few days that I was in the hospital. Even at my 6 wk. post-partum visit, she still gave the same incredible care and support that I received while in the hospital. I plan on having all my future children with the midwives, and I am so glad that other women in the area are using the midwives as well!
Katie (South Riding)
Loudoun Pediatrics
I would highly recommend Loudoun Pediatrics for those who need a new pediatrician. I have four children, and have been taking them there for eight years now. They are a caring and very competent staff who have gotten to know my children very well, and make them feel secure and safe at each visit. Wonderful staff!
Liz (Ashburn)
Loudoun Pediatrics are located in Leesburg and Sterling and they are fantastic, starting with the nurses that you can call with questions to the phone operator and the doctors. My son is 2 1/2 and has no problems with the doctors, they make him very comfortable and getting an appointment is never a problem, they work with you.
Penny (Bluemont)
All the DR's are great. Dr. Anya is the best. My daughter loves to go see her or Dr. Paul Tudder in Leesburg. He's a wonderful Dr., I cannot say enough about him, caring like a friend or family member. Everyone is great is both offices, Reston and Leesburg.
Dottie (Purcellville)
South Riding Pediatrics
South Riding Pediatrics is a great office to take your children to. With my newborn I was able to get a next day appointment the day after we came home from the hospital. Also, the nurses and doctors are so friendly and are willing to take time to listen to all your concerns, and don't seem to be in a rush. Also, they have evening and Saturday hours.
Katie (South Riding)
Women's Healthcare Associates
I have had many women problems in the past and had numerous Gyno's but I total love Dr. Stokes!!! He made me feel very comfortable during both my pregnancies. The care I received from Dr. Stokes is the best!!!

Spas / Salons
Cartoon Cuts
Childs first haircut? They did a great job!! They did both my son and daugher. They are fast for that like one that don't want to sit. Plus they give you a certificate for your childs first hair cut and they save a clipping in a little baggy. There is a TV with cartoons for you little angel. Highly Recommend it. It is in Dulles Town Center 703-433-1440.

Solace Day Spa
I recently visited Solace Day Spa in Chantilly and LOVED my experience there! I had the basic pedicure and manicure and it was so relaxing! When I was having my toes done, the nail technician provided a warm lavender-scented wrap that went over my shoulders and back. The massage chair was very comfortable and I was offered a bottled water. They play soft music in the background and there is a waterfall wall behind all of the pedicure chairs. My manicure was wonderful as well. I would highly recommend this salon and spa.
